Trusted Across Key Australian Industries

Ever-power NMRV worm gear reducers are deployed across Australia in industries where compact size, self-locking torque, and continuous-duty reliability are non-negotiable. Explore the full applications guide for selection data and worked examples.

Why Engineers Across Australia Specify NMRV Worm Gearboxes

The NMRV series worm gear reducer is a right-angle power transmission device built around an involute worm shaft meshing with a phosphor-bronze worm wheel. This geometry delivers a large speed reduction in a single compact stage, producing high output torque from a relatively modest input motor. The right-angle output shaft arrangement simplifies machine layouts where a 90-degree change in drive direction would otherwise require additional components.

Ever-power NMRV reducers are manufactured to IEC dimensional standards, meaning they mount directly onto any IEC-frame induction motor without an adapter. The square die-cast aluminium housing includes integral mounting feet (B3 position), a rear flange face for B5/B14 configurations, and four additional orientations (B6, B7, B8, V5, V6) to accommodate virtually any installation geometry.

Self-locking and load-holding characteristics

A defining feature of worm gear reducers is their capacity to self-lock under static load when the worm helix angle is below a threshold determined by friction. For NMRV units with reduction ratios of 30:1 and above, static self-locking is achievable, making these drives suitable for gate actuators, lift mechanisms, and positioning tables where the load must remain in place without auxiliary braking. Dynamic self-locking behaviour depends on efficiency; consult the selection guide or contact our engineering team to verify locking characteristics for your specific duty cycle.

Material and finish options

Sizes NMRV025 through NMRV090 use high-pressure die-cast aluminium alloy housings — lightweight, thermally efficient, and naturally corrosion-resistant. From NMRV110 upward, grey cast-iron housings are standard, providing additional structural rigidity for the higher bearing loads associated with larger motor ratings. Output shaft diameters range from 11 mm on the NMRV025 to 50 mm on the NMRV150. Viton oil seals are available as an upgrade for elevated temperature environments up to 100 degrees C.

  • Right-angle output in a single reduction stage — no additional bevel gear required
  • IEC-standard input flange for direct motor mounting (71B14, 80B14, 90B5, 90B14 and more)
  • Six mounting positions (B3, B6, B7, B8, V5, V6) supported without modification
  • Twelve standard reduction ratios from 5:1 to 100:1 per frame size
  • Dual-ratio combinations available via NMRV+NMRV tandem for super-reduction ratios
  • Food-grade lubricant option — suitable for incidental contact environments
  • IP54 standard protection; IP65 available on request
  • Noise level 60 dB max — suitable for clean-room adjacent installations
  • Servo and stepper-motor input adapters available for NMRV030 and above
  • CE marked and manufactured under ISO 9001 quality management system
  • Full dimensional drawings and CAD files available on request
